Becoming a lawyer was something that I had always wanted to do, but the truth is, I didn't set out to become a workers' compensation lawyer. It just so happens that the first person who came to me for legal help was an injured worker. He had a workers' compensation case and was afraid that he might lose his job. I wasn’t a workers’ compensation lawyer, but I remembered why I had become a lawyer in the first place — to help people.
I took his case, went to the library, and learned everything I needed to argue his case. The next day, I went with him to court. And, at the end of the day, he left happy.
The most important lesson I learned from that case was that the law only works if the injured worker is happy at the end of the day.
