Injured Workers: Permanency Awards are Inadequate

Update from the New York Workers' Compensation Alliance

The WCA has released an important paper with the results of a survey of injured workers about schedule loss of use awards for permanent injuries to limbs. The survey results show that the vast majority of injured workers believe that their schedule loss evaluations and benefits under the current guidelines are inadequate and unfair compensation. They also show that low-wage workers in particular feel that they are not fairly compensated for permanent injuries.

The survey results and the comments submitted by injured workers make a compelling case against the apparent Workers’ Compensation Board plan to rewrite and reduce the existing guidelines.
