Attorney

MCV Law is seeking an Attorney licensed to practice in New York or recent graduate awaiting admission to the New York Bar to join its growing Social Security Disability and Workers’ Compensation practices for its Syracuse office. This is an in-office position. The ideal attorney for the firm must be results-driven and have a passion for helping people. Newly admitted attorneys are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities include:

  • Case intake.
  • Assisting senior attorneys in preparing cases by requesting medical records, obtaining opinions from physicians and appellate research.
  • Conducting depositions of the claimant, physicians, medical experts and other parties.
  • Remaining current with developments in the law.
  • Regularly corresponding with the insurance company and defense attorneys to resolve issues on claims.
  • Drafting appeals, rebuttals, summations, memoranda of law, as well as pre and post-hearing memoranda and administrative appeals and appeals to Federal District Court.
  • Appearing before the Workers’ Compensation Board and Social Security Administration.
  • Meeting with clients and guiding them through the process.
  • Negotiating settlements on behalf of the claimant.
  • Providing legal direction in all cases.
  • Working with support staff to ensure cases are proceeding as necessary.

Law Clerk

MCV Law seeks a Law Clerk to join our Workers' Compensation practice, Personal Injury practice and Social Security Disability practice. Many of our attorneys have started in this role. We seek applicants who desire to live and work in Central and Northern New York. 

We encourage first and second year law students who want to be a part of a practice that genuinely helps individuals to apply. Additionally, we will consider remote work for those students attending law school outside of Central and Northern New York, but desirous of returning upon graduation.

Client Advocate/Case Manager

MCV Law is hiring a Client Advocate/Case Manager to join our Workers’ Compensation team. Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Phone intake of new cases
  • Preparation of retainer document
  • Meeting with clients to go over retainers and other documents
  • Requests for hearings
  • Requests for medical records from providers
  • Follow-up with medical providers
  • Regular phone and email contact with clients
  • Transcription
  • Devise case strategy
  • Deposition coordination
  • Correspondence and legal documents to send to the Workers’ Compensation Board, medical providers, insurance carriers, and other law offices

The ideal candidate must have a passion for helping people and have excellent communication, organization, time management, writing, and computer skills. Prior experience in Workers’ Compensation is preferred but not required. Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply. Must be able to work in a team setting. Compensation is dependent on experience.
