Ordered to Return to Work After the Correction Officers Strike—but You're on Workers’ Compensation? Here’s What to Do

The recent correction officers strike and subsequent agreement between prison and jail employees and the Department of Corrections in New York has caused much confusion and chaos.  On March 8th, an agreement was reached to address some of the workers’ concerns, however, it was contingent on at least 85% of all correction staff returning to work by March 10th.  The workers who did not return to work by March 10th were terminated. However, many of the workers that did not return to work were already out of work due to a work-related injury.

If you were terminated despite being out on Workers’ Compensation, you should contact an experienced Workers’ Compensation attorney right away to protect yourself. MCV Law has been handling Workers’ Compensation cases for Corrections Officers for decades, and is very experienced in how the system applies to these workers.
