As a result of a recent update to the Uniform Rules for City Courts, a number of new Landlord-Tenant forms went into effect on September 3rd, 2024. This update applies at a statewide level. Per 22 NYCRR 210.42[b][1][2], New notices of petition in residential nonpayment and holdover cases are mandatory. These new notices of petition are currently not listed as being mandatory for commercial/nonresidential cases.
As a helpful resource, the Office of Justice Court support has created updated landlord guides for both nonpayment and holdover proceedings. These guides feature the new forms in downloadable PDF format, and are available on the Statewide Landlord Tenant UCS Forms webpage.
